What We Write

Hocoma ArmeoSpring

The ArmeoSpring is a spring loaded arm exoskeleton that utilizes available arm function to improve the neuromuscular control of an affected shoulder, elbow and hand.

The device requires movement to be initiated by the user, thus enhancing both physical and cognitive recovery. The user performs task-specific functions by moving the ergonomic arm exoskeleton across a large 3D workspace, and performance is tracked through various assessment tools.

How Does The ArmeoSpring help?

Neuroplasticity is elicited through ArmeoSpring’s task specific repetitive training. By combining movements of the shoulder, forearm, elbow and wrist, as well as utilizing a hand grip sensor, the ArmeoSpring offers the following clinical benefits:

  • Remaining motor function in the affected limb is revealed
  • Allows even severely impaired users to train independently and benefit from highly intensive, repetitive, self-initiated movement therapy
  • An adjustable workspace allows for progression of therapy to maximize recovery
  • Increased user motivation

Who does the ArmeoSpring help?

The ArmeoSpring can be used as part of the rehabilitative program for any of the following injuries/conditions:

  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Stroke (Cerebrovascular Accident)
  • Brain Injury
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Other neurological injuries/conditions that affect shoulder/elbow/wrist movement and coordination
  • Orthopedic injuries/conditions that affect shoulder/elbow/wrist movement and coordination (i.e. shoulder surgery)

The ArmeoSpring is specifically suited for patients who are beginning to regain active movement of the arm and hand, and has already proved to be successful in many clinics worldwide. The ArmeoSpring is often becoming the preferred therapy choice of recovering patients, it is based on research and development conducted under Prof. D. Reinkensmeyer at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), USA.

Aim2Walk clients engaging in ArmeoSpring therapy are also exposed to specially trained therapists who utilize cognitive components of task-specific training, and maximize the benefits of neuroplasticity in the recovery process.

Aim2Walk is packed full of state of the art robotics and rehabilitation equipment, designed specifically to assist in the treatment of Neurological disorders.
