19 Sep Para-swimmer Star Aurélie Rivard proudly held the Canadian flag in the Closing of the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Another four years has come and gone and our 162 Canadian Paralympian athletes made our country proud. We have a final tally of 29 medals, 8 Gold, 10 Silver and 11 Bronze and many wonderful memories.
Para-swimmer Aurélie Rivard had the privilege of being Canada’s flag-bearer for the closing ceremony. Over the course of the games she won four medals, including three gold and breaking world records in the 50 and 400-meter freestyle S10 and setting a new Paralympic record in the 100 free. Her outstanding achievements gave her the upper hand at the task of being our flag-bearer.
Rivard, along with her fellow Paralympians celebrated the end of the games and the official transition to the 2020 Tokyo games. The closing montage video below shows a few of the memorable moments and highlights of the games. Way to go Canada!!
